The key purpose of our engagement and education efforts is to promote the rights, interests and well-being of children and youth in Alberta. We do this through ensuring that young people learn about our office, their rights and what to expect when receiving services under the Child Youth and Family Enhancement Act (CYFEA), the Protection of Sexually Exploited Children Act (PSECA), or if they are involved with the youth justice system. Providing young people, their service providers, and stakeholders with this information is an important part of our advocacy.
Our staff provide presentations, workshops and training opportunities on: almost anything about our office, Advocacy (and Advocacy Skills) and Children’s Rights. We also host information booths and tables at conferences and learning events throughout the province.
Please contact our office if you or your group would like to learn more about the engagement and education opportunities offered by the OCYA or to book a presentation. You can also be added to our distribution list to hear about upcoming events.
