My Rights, My Traditions: National Child Day Art Showcase

We are inviting young people across Alberta to share their creativity in the My Traditions, My Rights Art Showcase, part of this year’s National Child Day celebrations on November 20.

Celebrating National Child Day

National Child Day is recognized annually to highlight the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). It’s a day to celebrate children’s rights and ensure their voices are heard in our communities.

This year, we’re focusing on Article 30 of the UNCRC, which protects every child’s right to practice their own culture, religion, and language. The art showcase gives young people an opportunity to explore their traditions, share their identities, and connect with others through creativity.

How to Participate

Young people under 24 who are receiving, or have previously received, services through Child Intervention or the Transition to Adulthood Program (TAP) are invited to participate.

Why It Matters

The My Traditions, My Rights showcase is a way to celebrate National Child Day by amplifying the voices of young people and recognizing the importance of cultural identity. Each piece of artwork will help highlight the diversity of traditions and lived experiences across Alberta.

We look forward to seeing the creativity and traditions that young people share.
